As part of its 10-year commitment to the Olympic Movement, P&G is helping establish and sustain youth sport programmes around the world. It is the company’s way of saying ‘Thank you, Mum’ not just to the mothers of Olympians, but to every mum who does whatever it takes to make her child’s life the best it can be.
In the UK, P&G has partnered with the British Olympic Association and their official education programme, Get Set, to launch Get Set to Play – a brand new programme for 3 to 11 year olds, inspired by the Olympic Games, Team GB and the Olympic Values. The programme designed, created and delivered by EdComs, aims to make play and playtimes more active and more positive. Built on best practice in play and healthy, active lifestyles, it will offer resources that help teachers and pupils consider how active and happy playtimes in their school currently are, and inspire and support them in putting in place some simple but effective new ideas.
The Assistant Headteacher at Nelson Primary School, which hosted the launch of the programme, said ‘Primary schools will find this programme useful if they are serious about improving the amount of physical exercise the children complete in a day.’
